Safety & Accessibility

Safety

As one of the few companies in America that is owned and operated by a Registered Landscape Architect, we can guarantee our designs meet the latest safety standards as well as being a masterpiece. We take our responsibility as a playground equipment manufacturer very seriously, realizing the importance of safety above all else. That's why we make sure that we adhere to CPSC and ASTM guidelines, many times even exceeding the minimum guidelines.

In order to remain on the cutting edge of the playground industry, all Play Mart sales account managers are encouraged to be certified by the National Playground Safety Institute. A CPSI (Certified Playground Safety Inspector) is qualified to inspect playground sites, and to advise the customer on how to most economically bring their play site up to National Playground Safety Standards.

A large part of safety hazards originate with the surfacing beneath the play equipment. For that reason, we only suggest or offer surfaces that comply with the CPSC recommendation (4.5), ASTM F1951-99 Standard for ADA accessible surface material and the ASTM 1292-04 Standard for impact attenuation.

Accessibility

Do you have playground Area ADA Accessibility Concerns? With Play Mart, there is no need to worry about new ADA / ABA laws. We've got you covered! Play Mart, Inc.'s fun, environmentally friendly play systems meet all ADA Accessibility requirements!

At Play Mart, Inc. we endeavor to make our play areas inviting and friendly community environments to people of all abilities. Towards that end, we have designed our playsets to provide access to play components by transfer stations, ramps, and accessible surfacing routes according to the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). We have also designed play components specifically for wheelchair bound children, such as our ADA Driving Panel & Talk Tube Combo (see photo at right).

The ADAAG divides routes of access into two categories:

Transfer Systems: Provide access to elevated play components on the play equipment.

Our "King Arthur's Kourt" Mega Playset is an example of total accessibility and total fun for children of all abilities. We include ramps which provide access to elevated play components and accessible routes providing access to ground-level play components (sand tables,  overhead ladders at accessible reach-heights, talk tubes, driving panels, etc).
